Why does Bupa support volunteering?

Volunteering is good for you, for those around you, and helps us make a better world! That’s why at Bupa, we offer two paid volunteering days a year to eligible employees.

Research shows that volunteering can help improve self-esteem and wellbeing. Many people find that volunteering gives them a sense of meaning and purpose. It’s also a great way to fight loneliness, build friendships, feel part of a community, and learn new skills.

This portal connects you with volunteering opportunities, helping you use your time and skills for causes that matter to you.

Why has Bupa introduced the Bupa volunteer portal?

We know that our people at Bupa want to volunteer, but that finding the right volunteering opportunity can sometimes be difficult. That's why we've partnered with GoodCompany to develop this portal to make it easy for you to find volunteer roles for yourself or your team with the charity(s) of your choice.

What's great about the portal?

The Bupa volunteer portal is a one-stop-shop for all your volunteering needs.

We have responded to your feedback and introduced an open model of volunteering, which means you can volunteer for one or more of the thousands of charities across Australia.

Who has Bupa partnered with to deliver the portal?

Bupa has partnered with GoodCompany to deliver the volunteer portal.

Founded in 1999, GoodCompany was Australia's first Skilled Volunteer portal. In 2007 GoodCompany merged with the Karma Currency Foundation. Today, GoodCompany is an exciting hybrid social enterprise that embraces both a non-profit Public Ancillary Fund (PAF) with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status and for purpose structures to create greater social outcomes.

GoodCompany now supports over 1,600 of Australia's most respected charities.

Which charities are on Bupa volunteer portal? How do I add one?

There are more than 1,600 charities listed on the Bupa volunteer portal.

Charities must meet certain criteria to join the program including Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) Item 1. You can check to see if a charity is DGR item 1 by searching the Australian Business Register.

If a charity you're passionate about is not registered with GoodCompany and they meet the DGR criteria, please let us know if you are willing to champion their cause via advocacy or volunteering.

Details of the charity can be emailed through tosupport@goodcompany.org
